Cosplay Spotlight Nicci Fett

0 komentar
Costumer Nicci Fett is bold, beautiful and insanely talented! The long haired beauty is gifted in many different areas of crafting including sculpting, special effects make up and building armor. Nicci took some time to talk to the Confessions of a Cosplay Girl Blog about her craft, upcoming projects and the importance of women standing up for themselves on the internet. Keep reading for a very entertaining interview!

Victoria: How long have you been in the hobby of costuming and creating props?

Nicci: For ages! Since I was really young I had a strong obsession with "making." I was either drawing, sculpting, or slapping some weird materials together to make some monsters happen.

Victoria: Whats the process like creating armor? What materials do you use? How long does it take?

Nicci: It depends on what I am using. Some armors call for real life chainmaille weaving methods, others are taking products like foams and processing them with different products till you can fake a real life armor. Some is sculpting, casting in a plastic, then going nuts with metallic paints till you get the desired end result. Timing varies as well. Sometimes Ill be really invested in a project and make major dents in it quickly, other times I will drag my feet and lay in a pile of supplies begging it to just make itself.

Victoria: You have done many horror looks. Can you take me through the steps of creating something that dramatic and graphic?

Nicci: Haha I will try my best! This is a tough one. First I generally take a good look at my face, I pick out all my weird features, I have large eyes, some sharp teeth, an odd bone structure...So I tend to keep that all in mind while I draw up a few thumbnail sketches. Sketches are normally costume design for my body type and what features to bring out and exaggerate. Makeup is key in costume making so its good to really plan it out. Too often I see gorgeous amazing costumes that took ages to construct, and a huge lack of makeup to tie it together, bringing it all to life. Goal for me is using makeup to really make me a part of my costume (does that make sense or am I a lunatic?) Lol Basically that is how I bring stuff together and make it as real as I physically can.

Victoria: Makes sense to me! You have a no-nonsense policy when it comes to sexual advances and creepy emails. I absolutely love it! Do you think its important for a woman to stand up for herself in this digital age?

Nicci: Oh absolutely! Not just women either, woman, man, ANIMAL, stand up for yourself. Things can get dangerous if you do not put an end to something right where it starts. I am engaged to my best friend on the planet, and it is no secret to any friends or followers. I have no problem humiliating someone who is clearly disrespecting me or Steven, its as simple as that. If someone touches you at a convention, touch them back ...directly in the teeth!!! Or you know, find one of them security people.

Victoria:  Are you currently working on any new projects?

Nicci: Yes, I currently have a human head armature, some silicon and some foam sitting on my floor frowning at me, as well as Steves half finished armor in a ball. in my photography room... I am pretty sure I heard it whisper ( Please kill me).

Victoria: What has been your favorite convention experience?

Nicci: My favorite ever??? I have two, they were some of the first conventions I attended with Steve actually. One was Wizard World in Philly, before it was a big deal. So we were pretty much goofing off the entire time, the other is Pax East Boston. Both were ages ago, and just a goofy playful fun time. Pax was incredible, it was like camp for gaming nerds! So we were either shouting at each other playing games or shouting at each other painting miniatures ...or just shouting wildly for no reason.

Victoria: You are incredibly talented in regards to sculpting, special effects makeup, making armor and more. Where did you learn it all? T

Nicci: Thank you!!! I am afraid the only explanation I have are both my hands are extremely haunted by phantoms.

Victoria: Have you ever considered taking your talents and breaking into the entertainment industry?

Nicci: Nah, I have too much anxiety. I actually nearly vomit every time I enter a convention center no matter how small it is. You should see me on panel! Panels are a nightmare. My next panel costume will be a pee stain on my crotch and some puke around the neckline of my shirt, just so hopefully it all blends in.

Victoria: Where can people view a portfolio of your work and contact you?

Nicci: Right here! https://www.facebook.com/ErrorFett that is where I share the bulk of my stuff.

2014 is coming to a close. Towards the end of every year, I write an article listing all of the costumes that I completed. Before I publish that annual post, Id like to take the time to spot light other talented costumers and showcase their art and talent. Weither it be armor, body paint or sewing, their hard work deserves a standing ovation. Take a look at what they achieved in costuming in 2014!

Product Review Hulk Eye Contact Lenses from Spooky Eyes

0 komentar
Photos by Green House Photography
Spooky Eyes has a large variety of contact lenses available on their online store. They have many different types of lenses including natural colored contacts, Halloween, Cosplay and Special Effects. I recently received a pair of their Hulk Eye Contact Lenses (green). Priced at $28.95, these lenses are currently in stock with free shipping available. You can view a listing of the Hulk Eye Contact Lenses HERE and visit the sites main page HERE. I used these contacts for my teenage Buttercup Cosplay from The Powerpuff Girls.

After deciding which costume I would be using the lenses for, I placed the contacts in my eyes around 12:30pm and wore them until 6:30pm. I wanted to give them a good long trial test to see how they would hold up at a convention. The lenses were quite comfortable and I did not experience any vision impairment. Throughout the course of the day, I actually forgot that I was wearing the lenses. This shade of green really pops and photographs beautifully. I did not experience my eyes drying out or the contacts moving.

This is my second review for Spooky Eyes. Unfortunately I experienced problems with the first pair of contacts I received back in July. Im happy to report that my second pair were much better. I was very satisfied with this product. The Hulk Eye Contacts are great for Cosplay, Photo Shoots or a casual look.

Product Review Vinyl Steel Boned Underbust Corset

This Black Vinyl Steel Boned Underbust Corset is currently listed on the Three Muses Clothing website. With a retail price of $79.99, it is currently on sale for $59.99 but theres even better news for readers of Confessions of a Cosplay Girl! Enter this special code for a $10 discount, bringing the total to $50! Offer expires September 14th, 2014. Code: cosplayvic

The underbust corset has a cotton jean lining, modesty panel in the back and and nylon shoe string lace. There is steel boning in the front, back and sides. It also comes with 6 garter loops. It is to be dry cleaned only. This corset also features waist tape. Waist tape is a sturdy piece of non-stretch ribbon (or tape) that is located at the smallest part of the waist. The smallest part of the waist is where corsets are most stressed. The waist tape helps stitches from breaking at the waist which helps the corset last longer. Its an amazing feature. This underbust is available in sizes ranging from extra small to 5X. Three Muses Clothing ships all throughout the U.S. and Internationally. There are 3 shipping options available.

I ordered my corset in a size small. The item arrived in a priority box and was wrapped in tissue paper. The product was brand new with no defects or damage. The corset is very sturdy and strong. I really love the shine of the vinyl. I love the effect it gave my sexy Star Wars Imperial Officer outfit. This underbust can be used for a large variety of different costumes and club wear. You can mix this with a dress, a shirt or any type of bra or lingerie. I was pleased with the fast shipping, product accuracy and excellent communication with Three Muses Clothing.

Product Review Pinky Paradise Circle Contact Lenses

0 komentar
Although I have been cosplaying for 7 years, I have never worn contact lenses with any of my costumes. I always felt that, being naturally green eyed, my eyes sort of went with everything. However, I have had moments were I honestly wished I had invested in colored contacts to give my costume that extra WOW, particularly seeing my amazing cosplay friends wearing them. Im happy to report that I received my first set from www.pinkyparadise.com

I decided on two colors: Solar Eclipse and EOS Bubble Blue. The contacts lenses arrived in a timely manner and came with accessories to pull your hair back (which is a great help when putting contacts in). The contacts come in little glass bottles that are sealed. You also receive storage cases featuring adorable animal lids.

It took a while (and some help from my boyfriend) to get the contacts into my eyes, which is understandable for a first timer like me. At first it does take some getting use to but after a few minutes, it becomes quite comfortable wearing them.  It truly is amazing how drastically your appearance changes with the addition of contacts. I absolutely love the effect Pinky Paradise Contacts gives. Their lenses are beautiful and really add that extra wow factor. I ended up using the Solar Eclipse contacts for my Couture Maleficent photo shoot and was blown away by the effect! I also wore them to a recent show and received many compliments on them.

Pinky Paradise offers a large variety of lenses on their online store www.pinkyparadise.com   that are perfect for any character you want to bring to life through the art of costuming. Their Facebook Page has over one hundred thousand likes. I highly recommend their product!

Product Review Spooky Eyes Contact Lenses

0 komentar
Spooky Eyes is a website specializing in natural colored and special effect contact lenses. They also feature UV & Blacklight lenses and Halloween contacts. The company is located in the U.K and ships worldwide for free. According to the package, the contacts are made in Taiwan.

I ordered a pair of natural blue contacts. You can view the listing HERE. The item arrived in a brown envelope. The contacts were in a small box and came with a receipt. The back of the receipt has a return form. It lists their terms on returning orders if you are unsatisfied. The contacts were individually sealed in separate packets in saline. The packets are not reusable. You have to have your own contact case to store them. I put the contacts in and wore them for roughly 5 hours.

I loved how the contacts looked. The blue was a lovely shade and it looked natural. Unfortunately that is the only positive thing I can say about this product. Upon placing them in my eye, my vision immediately became blurry. Throughout the day the contacts also kept moving, impairing my vision even more. I put eye drops in both of my eyes hoping it would help but my vision was still blurred and the contacts continued to move about. After several hours, I removed them.

I was very disappointed with this product and the level of discomfort. I had hoped to use these for costumes such as Elsa, Supergirl, Wonder Woman and other blue eyed characters. Because they impaired my vision I cant even use these for a photo shoot. Unfortunately I cannot recommend or endorse this product.
