Product Review Five Wits Doctor Sweetie Spoiler Song Wig

0 komentar
Photos by Green House Photography
The Five Wits is an online company specializing in cosplay wigs, ball-joint doll wigs and eco-geek shirts. Located in Oklahoma, The Five Wits wigs are made from heat resistant Hiperlon. Their website is very informative. The FAQ section has information listed such as wig washing, how to detangle a wig, using curlers and more. Shipping is available to Canada and any other country where it is legal to ship from the United States. Payment is accepted using paypal and money order. A large variety of wigs are available in short, ponytail, medium and long in a selection of different colors. Todays review is for the Doctor Sweetie Spoiler Song wig inspired by Doctor Who character River Song. Currently listed for $35 and measuring at 33cm long, you can view the item HERE.

Corresponding with the Five Wits representative via email was very pleasant. Their costumer service  was first class. My Doctor Sweetie Spoiler Song Wig arrived in a brown envelope. The wig was secured in a net inside a resealable plastic bag. Attached to the wig was a tag which listed helpful information on combing, washing and styling your wig. I used this wig for Professor River Song.

I fell in love with this wig the minute I tried it on. Its hard to find a good quality wig that matches actress Alex Kingstons hair. I have seen many that look too poofy and resemble more of an afro. Others use cheap fibers that give it that Barbie doll look. The Five Wits wig looks natural and is a gorgeous texture. The curls and shade of blonde are a perfect match for the Doctors Wife.  It also photographs beautifully. The Five Wits is one of the best places to order wigs from on the web. I am very impressed by how they run their business. Their website has a lot of information regarding all of their products, tips, a large stock of different items and great costumer service. I highly recommend ordering from The Five Wits website!

Product Review Costume Super Center Enchanting Princess Costume

0 komentar
The Elite Enchanting Princess Adult Costume is available on the Costume Super Center website. Currently priced at a discounted $151.99 (regularly $189.99) this costume is in the grand tradition of the classic fairy tale Cinderella.  It is available in sizes small, medium, large and extra large. The costume, which is made by InCharacter Costumes, comes with a ball gown, choker, crown, gloves, and petticoat.

The item arrived packaged in a large box. The product itself was in a large plastic bag with a hanger. Instructions are enclosed on how to insert the wire into the petticoat. I ordered my dress in a size small which fits dress sizes between 4-6. The dress is absolutely beautiful. It is blue, white and gold. The bodice has a gold trim and theres a beautiful pattern on the center of the bodice and sleeves. The sleeves also have pretty beads hanging from them. The dress is 100% polyester and must be dry cleaned. The petticoat is 70% nylon, 21% polyester. The petticoat can be washed set on cold (no bleach) and air dried.

The choker is made of black ribbon with a pearl and faux diamond gem. The white gloves are nicely made. Unfortunately because I am petite, I found them to be a bit too long, reaching all the way to my sleeve (I ended up pulling them down slightly). The crown is made of a plastic headband with gold sequins. I have to report that I do not care for the cheap quality of the crown and plan to replace it. I used a blonde wig that I all ready owned to finish that Cinderella look.

I feel that the Elite Enchanting Princess Costume would be a great addition to your costume collection. The dress is gorgeous, highly detailed and very well made. It fits perfectly and is comfortable to wear. The petticoat is also great quality. The gloves and choker are a nice touch. My only disappointment is the crown but that is easily replaceable by purchasing a better quality one at an affordable price at  Claires or Icing. Disclaimer: The above article is a parody on the hashtag #cosfamous which is circulating on Twitter and other social media websites. The Confessions of a Cosplay Girl Blog feels that the hashtag #cosfamous is obnoxious and narcissistic. Why create ridiculous hashtags in the pursuit for Cosplay Fame? We all are cosplayers. We are all equal. Just be you. You are good enough without the flashy title and hashtags. I promise ;)

Cosplay Spotlight Nicci Fett

0 komentar
Costumer Nicci Fett is bold, beautiful and insanely talented! The long haired beauty is gifted in many different areas of crafting including sculpting, special effects make up and building armor. Nicci took some time to talk to the Confessions of a Cosplay Girl Blog about her craft, upcoming projects and the importance of women standing up for themselves on the internet. Keep reading for a very entertaining interview!

Victoria: How long have you been in the hobby of costuming and creating props?

Nicci: For ages! Since I was really young I had a strong obsession with "making." I was either drawing, sculpting, or slapping some weird materials together to make some monsters happen.

Victoria: Whats the process like creating armor? What materials do you use? How long does it take?

Nicci: It depends on what I am using. Some armors call for real life chainmaille weaving methods, others are taking products like foams and processing them with different products till you can fake a real life armor. Some is sculpting, casting in a plastic, then going nuts with metallic paints till you get the desired end result. Timing varies as well. Sometimes Ill be really invested in a project and make major dents in it quickly, other times I will drag my feet and lay in a pile of supplies begging it to just make itself.

Victoria: You have done many horror looks. Can you take me through the steps of creating something that dramatic and graphic?

Nicci: Haha I will try my best! This is a tough one. First I generally take a good look at my face, I pick out all my weird features, I have large eyes, some sharp teeth, an odd bone structure...So I tend to keep that all in mind while I draw up a few thumbnail sketches. Sketches are normally costume design for my body type and what features to bring out and exaggerate. Makeup is key in costume making so its good to really plan it out. Too often I see gorgeous amazing costumes that took ages to construct, and a huge lack of makeup to tie it together, bringing it all to life. Goal for me is using makeup to really make me a part of my costume (does that make sense or am I a lunatic?) Lol Basically that is how I bring stuff together and make it as real as I physically can.

Victoria: Makes sense to me! You have a no-nonsense policy when it comes to sexual advances and creepy emails. I absolutely love it! Do you think its important for a woman to stand up for herself in this digital age?

Nicci: Oh absolutely! Not just women either, woman, man, ANIMAL, stand up for yourself. Things can get dangerous if you do not put an end to something right where it starts. I am engaged to my best friend on the planet, and it is no secret to any friends or followers. I have no problem humiliating someone who is clearly disrespecting me or Steven, its as simple as that. If someone touches you at a convention, touch them back ...directly in the teeth!!! Or you know, find one of them security people.

Victoria:  Are you currently working on any new projects?

Nicci: Yes, I currently have a human head armature, some silicon and some foam sitting on my floor frowning at me, as well as Steves half finished armor in a ball. in my photography room... I am pretty sure I heard it whisper ( Please kill me).

Victoria: What has been your favorite convention experience?

Nicci: My favorite ever??? I have two, they were some of the first conventions I attended with Steve actually. One was Wizard World in Philly, before it was a big deal. So we were pretty much goofing off the entire time, the other is Pax East Boston. Both were ages ago, and just a goofy playful fun time. Pax was incredible, it was like camp for gaming nerds! So we were either shouting at each other playing games or shouting at each other painting miniatures ...or just shouting wildly for no reason.

Victoria: You are incredibly talented in regards to sculpting, special effects makeup, making armor and more. Where did you learn it all? T

Nicci: Thank you!!! I am afraid the only explanation I have are both my hands are extremely haunted by phantoms.

Victoria: Have you ever considered taking your talents and breaking into the entertainment industry?

Nicci: Nah, I have too much anxiety. I actually nearly vomit every time I enter a convention center no matter how small it is. You should see me on panel! Panels are a nightmare. My next panel costume will be a pee stain on my crotch and some puke around the neckline of my shirt, just so hopefully it all blends in.

Victoria: Where can people view a portfolio of your work and contact you?

Nicci: Right here! https://www.facebook.com/ErrorFett that is where I share the bulk of my stuff.

The Lois Lane Effect

0 komentar
Since her debut in Action Comics #1 Lois Lane has inspired a string of feisty female journalists who are often the supporting character to the leading male super hero. The award winning reporter from Metropolis has become a pop culture icon since her debut in June 1938. The sometimes damsel in distress is also an independent modern woman with her own award winning career and has proven that you dont need super powers to fight for truth, justice and the American Way. This very mortal woman is also an important part of Supermans/Clark Kents support system. He viewed her as an equal and she won his heart and hand in marriage. Despite the New 52 Universe wiping it away, the Superman/Lois Lane star-crossed love story remains the first great romance in comic book history and is legendary. Whether its the damsel in distress or the love interest, its clear many super heroes need their own fabulous version of Lois Lane.

Iris West: Iris West made her debut in Showcase #4 published by DC Comics and released in 1956. She is a reporter for Pictures News in Central City and eventually marries Barry Allen, aka The Flash. On the popular CW show The Flash, Iris works at a cafe and is the author of a Blog which chronicles sightings and information on the super hero. She is portrayed by actress Candice Patton.

April ONeil: The feisty television reporter made her debut  in 1984 not as a T.V. journalist but as a computer programmer. Her occupation was changed in the classic animated series. April is a friend of the turtles who uses her connections to assist them in their missions. While not romantically linked to any of the turtles, she is often in a relationship with vigilante hero Casey Jones. April was recently portrayed on the big screen by Megan Fox.

Vicki Vale: Vicki Vale first appeared in Batman #49 released in 1948. She was a reporter for the Gotham Gazette. In the 1989 Batman film she is played by actress Kim Basinger  with the slightly different position as a photojournalist. Ms. Vale is also the sometimes girlfriend of Bruce Wayne however their relationship simply never seems to work out. Fun fact: Ms. Vale was modeled after Norma Jeane Mortenson, an upcoming model who would later be world famous as Marilyn Monroe.

Betty Brant: Betty made her comic book debut in 1963 in The Amazing Spider-Man #4. The secretary for the Daily Bugle often had journalistic aspirations and was romantically linked to Peter Parker.  In the Ultimate Marvel Universe, Betty was murdered by Venom after obtaining footage of the new Spider-Man and trying to expose his identity. Betty was played by actress Elizabeth Banks in the Sam Raimi Spider-Man trilogy.

Chloe Sullivan: Since her debut on the pilot episode of Smallville, which aired on the WB in September 2001 (and was moved to the CW), fans speculated that the blonde from Kansas was so much like Lois, she would eventually color her hair dark and change her name to Lois Lane. Theories were put to rest when Lois joined the show in season 4 and turned out to be her cousin. The character of Chloe Sullivan was specially created for the Smallville show. She began appearing in comics set in the Smallville Universe beginning in 2002. Chloe eventually marries and has a son with Green Arrow. She was portrayed by actress Allison Mack.

Couture Maleficent Gallery

0 komentar

Its been a year since the Disney movie Maleficent was released starring my favorite woman in the world, Angelina Jolie. The live action fairy tale told the "true" story of the famous evil fairy from the classic animated film, Sleeping Beauty. Upon the movies release, I created a Couture version of my favorite villain. Using Kandee Johnsons makeup tutorial, it took me an hour to properly apply the makeup. I made the horns, staff and gloves. The wig is a lace front from a local wig shop. The jewelry is from the official Maleficent merchandise line. The contacts are from Pinky Paradise. The dress is from Macys.

Fan Boys Dont Own Me

0 komentar
Get ready for a very honest and to-the-point entry. I am very upset. Recently I have been dealing with fan boys who make sure to attend every appearance I make in the area. Now you may say its great that I have people who support me however it appears that some seem to be getting angrier and angrier with me. The reasons vary; I didnt respond to something they wrote on my Public Facebook Page or they ran into me at a show and I did not have the courtesy to post that I would be there. This feeling that they have, that I am obligated to inform them of where I am going and it is my duty to respond to them on my page makes me uneasy.

Like many cosplayers around the world, I like to share the work that my photographers and I do online. I love to attend conventions to have fun with my friends and loved ones as an attendee. Sometimes I am there as a guest or a member of the press. On other occasions, I have been there on behalf of the charity organization I work for. Ive promoted appearances that I make but I do not promote when I am going to have a sign up table for the charity organization. The reason for that is, I must keep "Victoria Cosplay" and the charity work I do separate. The focus of the charity work is to spread our mission and inform local costumers who may be interested in joining our cause. I am not there to promote myself or sell pictures. It is about giving back.

Do I deserve fan boys getting angry with me to my face because I did not promote that I was going to be at a show even after I explained my reasons? No. I shouldnt even have to give a reason. Its my private decision on weither I want to make public where I am going. Am I obligated to respond to comments made on my page which has over 9,000 people on it? No. Its impossible to respond to every one. Yes, I appreciate the people who have supported my work but I was never in this for the "Likes". I costume because it makes me happy. I am not doing it for anyone else. I do it for me. I know there are other women out there who say they do it for the fans. They accept gifts through the mail and take votes on what character you want them to dress up as next. They make it very clear they are doing this for you, the fans. That is not me.

Costuming is a form of self expression for me. It is an outlet for me to express myself creatively. Its amazing that people support me. Its amazing that people like my work. I am by no means brushing my supporters off. I appreciate it beyond words. But dont act like you own me. Dont approach me as if I owe you because you clicked "Like" on my page. Respect the boundaries. Respect my duties to charity. And respect my decisions if I dont want to make pubic what shows I am going to and who I am with.

Please feel free to hit "Unlike" if you wish. Its not the end of the world for me.

MatchWigs review

0 komentar
The MatchWigs website was started by "cosplay fanatics" who wanted to offer a smooth transaction to fellow cosplayers and high quality wigs. MatchWigs offers free international shipping and low prices. Their wigs are made of Hiperlon fiber and are heat resistant. They can be washed and restyled. Many different styles and hair colors are available. I recently received  their Verome Medium Yellow Wig for my Supergirl costume. It is priced at $27.99. You can view a listing of the product HERE. A confirmation email is sent after placing your order. Once your product is shipped, you are provided with a tracking number.

The item arrived secured in a hair net and sealed in a plastic bag. A note is included with instruction on how to care for your wig. I have to say, I was quite stunned after putting the Verome Wig on. The wig is absolutely beautiful. The texture is very soft and silky. The color is very flattering and will work for multiple skin tones. The length was exactly what I was looking for regarding Supergirl. I didnt want anything too long or too short. Medium length was perfect. MatchWigs Costumer Service was very helpful during our transaction. We communicated regularly and quite pleasantly!

The wig photographs quite beautifully and I was very happy with the photos shot for MatchWigs. Their products gets two thumbs up from me. I highly recommend their product.
