0 komentar
Troops of 26 and 28 Task Force Brigades repelled an early morning daring attack by fleeing Boko Haram terrorists on military locations at Pulka and Bitta in the fringes of Sambisa forest.

Yesterday, March 8, troops of 114 Task Force Battalion came under three-pronged attack by Boko Haram terrorists fanning out of Sambisa forest from Damboa, Tokumbere and Pulka axis. At the end of the debacle, 2 Boko Haram insurgents paid for their atrocities with their lives while several others sustained gun shot injuries. The fate that befell those that attacked Pulka was more dreadful.
The ever ready and vigilant troops rose to the occasion by repelling the attacks and killing all the 16 attackers and captured one of them alive during the exploitation. The gallant troops also recovered 11 AK-47 rifles, 3 General Purpose Machine Guns (GPMGs), 1 Browning Machine Gun (BMG) and 2 Toyota Hilux vehicles. Others are a 60mm Mortar tube, 7 boxes of 12.7mm ammunition and 1 belt of 12.7mm ammunition.
There were no casualty on the troops except for 3 soldiers that sustained minor injuries. The troops remained on maximum alert and are equally busy consolidating and continuing with their clearance operations with high morale.

NNPC reorganised not unbundled – Kachikwu says

0 komentar
Minister of State for Petroleum Resources and Group Managing Director of the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation NNPC, Ibe Kachikwu, says the oil corporation is only being reorganized and not unbundled. He said this while speaking with State House Correspondence after the Federal Executive Council meeting today March 9th.

"We have not unbundled NNPC. We had a press conference yesterday where I explained this. What we have simply done is reorganisation. We have five business entities focus on business: Upstream, Downstream, Refineries, Gas and Power that are there before. There is also Ventures that captures all our little companies that were not having proper stewardship. They are run by individuals who report to the GMD. The NNPC is still a whole. There is nothing new that has happened. I have tried to explain this and I am sure the NNPC workers are members of the family, they will understand. We are going to have a meeting, and they will be made to understand. Perhaps the engagement has not been good enough. NNPC has not been unbundled in the sense of breaking up NNPC into distinct institutions. I am concerned. I don’t want the industry shut down. I am sure we are going to resolve the issues very soon,” he said

Cosplay 101 How to Get Professional Photos

0 komentar
When I began cosplaying in 2006, I was amazed by all of the professional photos I found on the internet of outstanding cosplayers from around the world. Photography was one of the things that drew me into cosplay. The art of taking photos not only captures a fictional character come to life but helps tell a story. It takes someone with a creative eye and true talent to capture a shot (not just someone with an expensive camera). My first cosplay was Aerith Gainsborough from Final Fantasy VII. I started out taking pictures with a standard point and shoot camera. I didnt know anything about photography or modeling and wished there was a how-to guide to getting professional photos done. Now that I have several years experience both as a cosplayer and a professional model, I want to take this opprotunity to helps others with three easy tips.

Tip #1: Create an Account on Model Mayhem. This site will get you connected with photographers in your area by searching through the casting/travel section. Model Mayhem is a community for models, photographers, makeup artists and other professionals in the industry. I have to stress how careful you have to be on this site. There are creepers who are anything but professional. I highly recommend immediately blocking anyone who gives you any trouble. NEVER go to a photo shoot alone. Always bring someone with you (say that your companion is your assistant) and dont buy into the "I work better alone" excuse. A real photographer wont have issues with other people on set. Dont give out your phone number until you confirm everything in writing via email (date, location of the shoot, theme and compensation). Be sure to work out the details on what compensation you will both be receiving whether you are paying the photographer or doing a trade. I have met some wonderful photographers through Model Mayhem and have even been hired for modeling assignments. But there have also been major disappointments . Be sure to ask and sign a Model Release Form. If they dont provide one,  create your own. Search Google for tips and feel free to email me: cosplay.girl@yahoo.com  Remember to be fair; both parties who are coming together for a creative project must be satisfied.

Tip #2: Network in the Convention Community.  There are plenty of online communities for conventions where you can connect with other cosplayers and photographers. Do a search for a show you want to attend through Facebook and see whats going on. Many shows have group gathering photo shoots organized by attendees. They sometimes
include special guests such as comic creators or actors. Photographers sometimes set up a booth or have a meeting place at a show where they offer sessions with cosplayers.

Tip #3: Buy a Professional Camera. It costs a pretty penny but its worth it. If you own a professional camera then you can take high quality photos at your will. You can use a tripod or have someone you know and trust operate the camera for you. If you cant afford one, purchase the highest quality point and shoot camera available on the market. Ive had photos taken with a point and shoot camera such as my Red Riding Hood collection that Im pleased with.  I would also advise in investing in some sort of Photo Shop program. You never know what you can accomplish while experimenting with the program. It also comes in handy when you have to do something quick and easy like removing a blemish.

I hope you found my quick guide helpful. Have fun and Happy Cosplaying!

What Does 500 Words Look Like

0 komentar
stickman shows his 500 word post to a friend
The writing on this page will be about 500 words - the point being to demonstrate what it looks like.

It doesnt matter a great deal what it is about - it will wander along in a reasonably simple and quick fashion, depending on your reading pace of course.

The purpose, and all writing has to have a purpose, except the best sort, which is writing that doesnt - the purpose being to give a rough idea of words on a page, and how much space 500 of them take up.

I guess that most people would be horrified to talk about words being used as filler, but the truth is, that is all writers do.  Sure, they can dress it up as great meaningful prose, or important news or even poetry - but it is all just letters, arranged to lesser or greater effect.

For my part, I love words and playing with them, shifting them around in my head and then laying them out - attempting to make a coherent point about something.  The fun of the surprise gives me great pleasure.

On this occasion I am working within a narrow remit.  It is to show you what 500 of these beauties look like when laid end to end.

Obviously, unless you have a very wide screen, they will not appear in a single line but in a series of mini paragraphs - the two sentence rule being the internet standard at present.  Eventually we will end up with a single word being sufficient for the average reader with at least two lines of space and a video to alleviate the extreme stress of reading.

I might point out at this stage that the word count is a disappointingly slim three hundred or so.  That means more work for the both of us to get to the end.  I would say "Ill keep it short" but there is a target here that I intend to hit.

Sometimes, when the subject matter is a little more, how shall we say... interesting, then 500 words is nowhere near enough.  On a title like this though Im almost pushing it to get there.  Still, the average paragraph is fifty or so, and it doesnt take a whole lot of waffle to put a few together.

I wonder what it is you are going to be writing?  A school essay, a job application, maybe a love letter?  Five hundred words of endearment should go a long way I should think, although I am no expert.  There was a time once, I can tell you, although sadly - fifty words would probably cover it.

Whatever it is you are aiming for, I wish you good luck and as we reach the finish point I hope you find it easy enough.  I will say that practice makes writing very easy, and its more fun than it probably looks.

Well, I enjoy it.

Thats it by the way - five hundred words, including these.  Good luck!

Heres a guy who knows all about writing...

Megacon 2013

0 komentar
The 2013 MegaCon Convention took place in Orlando, Florida at the Orange County Convention Center. The event took place March 15th through the 17th and boasted an impressive guest list featuring talent from comics and the cast of Star Trek: The Next Generation. This year marked my second time attending  the show and I had three costumes on my schedule; Snow White, Huntress and Zatanna. I was attending Saturdays DC shoot and had a private session with SGH Photography Saturday. I also had the opportunity to shoot with Bodhi Tree Photography. There were many talented costumers at this years show. Photographs featured in this article were taken by Photos by Jojo and myself.

Last years trip to Megacon was a whirlwind and a bit of a blur for me. I was invited last minute and flew to Orlando Saturday afternoon, having to leave Sunday afternoon. I also had work the following Monday so rest was nonexistent. This year I was able to plan ahead and extend my stay. I flew to Florida Thursday and didnt leave until Monday. Thursday I was able to spend some time with friends and make new ones. On Friday I attended the show dressed as Snow White. After picking up our badges, we went to see comic legend George Perez. I was able to tour the entire convention center this time and realized how much I missed last year. There were far more artists and vendors there than I had thought. My friends and I did some shopping, met up with friends and I posed for photos upon request. I really enjoyed the childrens reaction to Snow White. My favorite memory was when a little girl gave me a hug. I found a fellow Disney Princess; a stunning girl dressed as Belle in a beautiful gown she created. A friend introduced me to Adam Hughes which was very exciting for me. The day ended with dinner at Dennys with friends where oddly enough, I was recognized (out of costume) as we waited for our table.

On Saturday I was dressed as Huntress. When my friends and I arrived at the convention center we were in for a bit of a shock. The crowds were huge, as in San Diego Comic Con huge. It was extrememly difficult to navigate through the crowds. The Dealer Room became impossible to walk through. After paying George Perez another visit,  we watched a Belly Dancer show. After the show, we made our way to the main entrance where we ran into some fellow cosplayers and photographer Grace Moss. We took some photos then headed to the area where the DC shoot was to take place. I have to report that the shoot was poorly organized. There was a lot of confusion, conflicting direction and no leadership. People began breaking off and taking pictures in groups of their own, including myself. We ended up leaving, took some shots outside then made our way to a friends hotel room to rest before my  shoot with SGH Photography. We had dinner at an Italian Resturant and were pleasantly surprised to find out the cast of Star Trek: The Next Generation was also there. We saw Patrick Stewart walk by our table and caught glimpses of the rest of the cast. We also happen to be outside when the cast took a group photo with the staff of the resturant.

By Sunday I was a bit drained and decided not to wear Zatanna. I chose to attend the con as normal me and was surprised some people still recognized me. A few even asked for photos. Sunday was very laid back which was a huge relief after Saturdays crowds. Sunday was a day full with friends and bonding. We ran into George Perez once again and I got to say hello to my friend Billy Tucci. We went shopping, hung out at the Hero Initiative booth, celebrated two birthdays and had dinner. On Monday morning we had a farewell breakfast at IHOP before I was dropped off at the airport. My favorite part of these shows is the fact that they bring people together. I am very fortunate and blessed that I have been accepted into a circle of amazing people with beautiful hearts. We shared so many laughs together and this years show is full of fond memories. Its interesting to see how much the Megacon Convention has grown. I spoke to several people who have been attending the show for years who were quite startled at Saturdays crowds. Its extrodinary to see how much  geek culture has grown and that is something to be celebrated.

Id like to thank all those involved in this years Megacon Convention. My full gallery can be seen on my Official Facebook Page and be sure to check out Jojos full gallery on her Facebook.
