Zenkaikon 2012

| 0 komentar |
The Zenkaikon Convention returned to the Philadelphia area for their 6th year providing all the wonders and fun of the anime world. This was my fourth time attending the event and I can honestly say that each year it gets better (and the crowds get bigger). In 2011 over three thousand attendees were present. Clearly this is a show that is in high demand. This year the two day event was held on May 11th and 12th at the Philadelphia Expo Center at Oaks, Pa.

I have had unique experiences when attending this show. The first two times I participated as a fan who was excited that there was finally a local anime convention. Last year I was a guest on  behalf of actor Vic Mignoga who insisted I enjoy all the festivities after hosting a dinner party for him and his fans. This year I attended as a member of the press with my Blog photographer Brian and my gal pal Alisha. First Id like to say how impressed I was with the staff. They were very pleasant and helpful and also did a wonderful job with crowd control. As many of us know, the anime crowds can become a  bit too hyper. That wasnt the case at all. It was a very pleasant and safe environment. The room reserved for LARPING was especially a stroke of genius (Im not a fan of it and felt relieved I wouldnt have to worry about someone invading my personal space).

Many vendors sold imported items from Japan as well as talented artist selling their original work. Guest in attendance including voice actors Sonny Strait and Michele Knotz, comedian Uncle Yo, bands Platform One, The Asterplace and my personal favorite, a performace by Kyo Daiko. I attended the show as my original "Hatsune Loves Rainbow Dash" cosplay while Alisha was Shutterfly from "My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic". I met up with other friends and we had a great time shopping (my splurge was an original Rainbow Dash hat). In closing here are my favorite pictures from the show featuring cosplayers and items on display. My thanks to the staff at the Zenkaikon convention. I look forward to next years show!

2015 Wrap Up

| 0 komentar |
2015 has come to an end (when did that happen?). In a year where my goal was to focus on attending less conventions and improving my finances rather than traveling to a show every weekend, I somehow found myself busier than ever. Managing and coordinating Heroes Alliance Charity Events, running my birthday party business, modeling, business and cosplay shoots, in addition to professional bookings (such as Wonder Woman and Katniss) kept me the busy bee. Below is a gallery of my 2015 adventures. What a blessing it was!

I was invited to the advance screening of MockingJay Part 2 in King of Prussia, PA as the official Katniss Everdeen. Lionsgate Films sent me an amazing gift set as a thank you.

Dragoncon! Dragoncon in Atlanta, Georgia was the only convention I attended this year for "myself" and for fun. I had the best time I ever had at this years show.

I was the Cosplay Guest of Honor at RocCon in Rochester, NY. Here I am with Star Trek actress Nicelle Nichols.

I make social visits to Georgia at least once a year to visit extended family and friends. I always do projects when I am in town. The creativity in the area is amazing. In addition to a modeling shoot, it was also the debut of the Dee Dee Twins. I also did a body paint Groot.

I was invited as a celebrity judge at the Comedy Sportz Philly Geek Night. Opting for a "casual cosplay" I decided on Mary Jane.

I was invited as a Cosplay Guest at Comics and More in Plymouth Meeting, PA for Free Comic Book Day.

This Harleys Revenge costume was loaned to me by a dear friend. It was the first time I dressed as Harley.

Cinderella finally got a proper wig this year. She was also booked for some birthday parties (yay! No Elsa!)

Rogue got a Gothic somewhat Punk Makeover. Now that I have this wig, I think in 2016 its time I costume a comic version of the Southern Belle.

Im a big fan and collector of Monster High and didnt mind accommodating a client who requested Clawdeen Wolf for her daughters birthday party.

Belle made a comeback and got an upgrade thanks to a dear friend so that I was able to fulfill a birthday party request.

Barbie was requested for a birthday booking in November. I still have to do a proper shoot for my business website.

Dark Knight Rises Catwoman still needs to do a proper photo shoot. And needs a better mask.

The Trinity also made a comeback this time in their New 52 suits.

My New 52 Wonder Woman got an upgrade with armor made by Three Muses Clothing. This image by COSplay (aka AMP Cosplay) is my favorite of the year. This was a pre-Dragoncon shoot during my second visit to Georgia.

More Elsa parties even though I offer other princesses because people cant "Let it Go".......

I was the Cosplay Guest of Honor at the Central PA Comic-Con in York, PA.

And charity events, charity events, charity events! I coordinated 16 charity events this year with the nationwide volunteer group, The Heroes Alliance. I personally attended 14 out of 16.

Last but not least, I spent countless cuddles and kisses in 2015 with my furbabies who turned 3 years old this year. Happy New Year everyone! Heres to a happy, safe and healthy 2016.
